JollyCampers adventures in Sproatley

We arrived at Jolly Campervan HQ full of excitement for our first overnight adventure in the Baron. We were not disappointed! The van was beautifully clean and well equipped. There was a thorough handover of the camper and we felt very prepared to set out on our journey. In addition to the patient and friendly handover, the Baron comes with a manual in case you should forget anything!

We chose an awesome campsite in Burton Constable (http://www.burtonconstable.co.uk) for our maiden voyage. My husband used to visit when he was a lad and so it was a trip down memory lane. We took our 2 nephews and they absolutely loved it. The site was immaculate with brilliant shower facilities, room for the boys to play football without causing a nuisance and a mix of static caravans, tents and motorhomes. As it was bank holiday, they had some live music at the on site bar (think jazz rather than heavy metal!) and a hog roast. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon!

After we had worn the boys out, we retreated to the Baron which had gathered quite a crowd of admirers! If you bunk in the Baron be prepared to make lots of new friends! We set up the BBQ- provided in the van- and gathered round for a nostalgic feast of burgers and toasted marshmallows. With full bellies, we popped open the roof and set the kids to sleep! The pop up bed is a sturdy double and was more than adequate for 2 boys. They loved the fact they could unzip the windows and keep a look out from their new den!

We were genuinely surprised by the space inside the Baron- it's quite a tardis! As well as a double up top, there is another double for the grown ups and we slept like logs. Usually when camping, you're awake with the sun but because of the luxury of curtains, we all slept through until 9. Quite a treat! Once up, we used the very well equipped kitchen to make the obligatory camping bacon butties and brews .  We were pleasantly surprised to find coffee, tea, salt etc... all of the things you would want but are likely to forget!

After a hearty breakfast we set off on the road again to take the Baron back home knowing we had made some lovely new memories for the boys. They enjoyed the van so much, they both took the time to draw us thank you cards.  When you book through Jolly Campervans, you're not just paying for a van, you're paying for a wonderful experience and very fond memories.

JollyCampers - Out and about with The Baron

"Just returned from a fantastic east coast tour in The Baron. He came fully loaded with everything we needed. The pick-up process and demonstration was relaxed and informative and for most part we paid attention ( too excited about the prospect of spending some quality time with The Baron)

Our first destination was Fylingthorpe just outside Robin Hoods Bay. Middle Wood Farm site. Three days in a wonderful campsite with a path down to the beach and the pub. The perfect spot to see the area and Whitby's 2014 Fish N Chip shop of the year. It wasn't the Magpie. The facilities and co-workers on site are fantastic. The jazzy waistcoat wearing milk/egg delivery man is a real character. Top tip for Vodaphone users, you can get a signal just outside the reception door.

Making friends in the Baron is so easy everyone wants to meet a T2 camper and sometimes the driver too. Mainly to confirm we are treating the V UU with the respect it deserves.

The toaster!  Took a while to work out what it was and how it worked. We should have paid attention during the demonstration. Intrigued? My lips are sealed what goes on during a camping trip stays on the trip.

Next stop the Northumbrian Coast. Wow, The Baron ate up the miles and the journey seems so much quicker when other V UU drivers wave and passers by smile. We set up camp in a beautiful site in Dunstan Hill. Short walk to a castle in one direction and a short walk to a real ale pub just off the beech in the other. Perfect, The Baron acquired a few more admirers no change there then.

Next stop Sea Houses the site in Beadnell is fantastic just a short hop across the dunes and you are on the beach, great facilities and friendly co-workers. Easy walk into Sea Houses and Beadnell

On the trip home The Baron behaved as he had all week, gathering admiring glances and friendly waves, eating up the miles.

The Baron was spotless when we met him and it only seemed fair to hand him back in the same condition. Normally I hate cleaning up, ask my partner. I actually enjoyed taking care of The Baron.

Overall a fantastic trip, wonderful peeps at JollyCampers and best of all we got to meet The Baron.

If you fancy getting away from it all, seeing the countryside at a pace Mother Nature intended and a brief insight into driving a vehicle with character and personality. I would highly recommend Jolly Campers."

JollyCampers - The Dales

Hi Jolly & Aly
Thank you for Hiring out the Baron to us, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and now I’m hooked. It was so much fun, we decided roughly where we wanted to go in the Dales but didn’t forward book anything so we could be flexible (benefits of going off peak times) and it worked perfectly. When we found a road we liked the look of we took off and found some breathtaking scenery, plus some very steep hills which were fun! The trusty Baron got us up every hill, and kept us fed and watered on route. Then when we camped for the night we put up the awning for the boys to sleep in while we kept nice and warm inside ;_)
We've been enthusing about our camper van trip with friends and family so much that I think we might have to compete for the vans next time as everyone wants to have a go.

You were so easy to book with, couldn’t have been simpler. You will definitely be seeing us again soon.

JollyCampers - Mason's Farm, North Yorks

What a wonderful way to start the summer holidays!!  A weekend campervanning in the Baron in the North Yorkshire Dales.

We picked up the van from Jolly and Aly which was really clean and surprisingly spacious.  The campervans are kitted out extremely well with every corner of the van put to good use for storage or equipment.  Having been used to driving an automatic car, the van felt strange to begin with but we very soon had the hang of it and enjoyed a lovely journey through the hills and dales.

We arrived at Masons campsite in Appletreewick which had been recommended by Jolly and Aly.  It is located in a beautiful valley, alongside a shallow stream, with clean facilities and within walking distance to 2 local pubs – which is always a bonus!

The children slept in the top and there was more than enough room for our 3 little ones.  They loved the novelty of sleeping up there and were the envy of the other kids on the camp-site.  They took great pride in showing their new found friends around their new home for the weekend.

Jolly and Aly have thought of everything, team, coffee, sugar, cafetiere, camp chairs, blankets for sitting out at night when it started to get a bit chilly, and lovely cosy bedding for the night time.  With the awning on the side, there was plenty of space for all our mountains of gear.

We had a fantastic time in the Baron, the weather was great for the first 2 days which allowed us to sit out, relax and BBQ whilst the kids played around with the other children on the site.  On the last night, it chucked it down.  We were very grateful to be tucked up snugly in the campervan rather than sleeping under canvass.  We woke up to find that some of the tents had actually packed up and gone.  Thank goodness for the Baron!!

It was a superb experience for the children – they loved every minute of it, but lso for us.  Great times, with great friends, looking forward to doing it again – thanks guys xx

JollyCampers - Leeds Festival

We had an amazing weekend in The Baron! A lover of all things VW my husband didn't stop beaming all weekend and certainly enjoyed the admiring glances from all we passed on our travels!

The children LOVED sleeping in the roof, the beautiful van has everything you need and is ingenious in having a place for everything. We were cosy as anything as the rain battered down in a biblical fashion in the early hours of the Saturday morning.

We were gutted at having to return it on the Monday but have vowed to hire it again very soon!

JollyCampers - Down South

We hired Penfold for a week to celebrate our Wedding anniversary in style… As novice VW Campers we were excited and Penfold more than lived up to our expectations!

We did a lot of travelling to visit places both old and new and delighted in ‘flashing’ and waving at other VW Campers (like being part of a secret society!), and we would encourage other hirers to be confident in navigating minor roads rather than just motorways… Penfold is meant for driving leisurely.

We found Penfold comfortable at night and were impressed at how every cupboard and drawer concealed something useful.

The team at Jolly Campervans were friendly and helpful and we would highly recommend hiring from them. We were very sad to return Penfold at the end of our holiday!

JollyCampers - Paul & Debs Week in the Lakes

We  booked the campervan at very short notice...a last minute thing really but it turned into a fab few days.

Organising collection was quick n easy and sooner than expected we were on the road heading for the lakes! The van...awesomely retro....attracted a few waves and beeps from what we'd like to think were envious onlookers.

It's not the fastest or easiest to handle of vehicles but we soon got the hang of it and had no dramas along the way. We did quite a bit of driving to and around the lakes calling in at Ambleside, Windermere, Grassmere and Patterdale. Some windy roads n steep hills but the van coped well.

Sooo much better than coming back to a tent after a hard day in the hills and we were able to cook up a treat on the BBQ n gas stove with no trouble. Everything we needed was at hand.

We didnt really use campsites and just pulled up wherever we fancied in some idyllic picturesque spots that you couldn't get with a tent or b&b!

Overall an amazing few days....highly recommended!! :-)
